Smocking 101

Here is my first smocked outfit. Ann (Ben's mom) was so nice to show me how. She has a little machine that pleats the fabric. Then you watch a lot of Jane Austin movies and follow a pattern. It is really fun and I have another that I am working on for Christmas. He wore this on Sunday and I thought he looked so cute! This other one was an Easter present from Grandma Ann. Cute huh!

That totally takes me back to some dresses I used to wear. My mom totally smocked our dresses! You are a ROCK STAR for doing that. Max is SUPER handsome! Fun memories (for me).

Oh! I wish I could make sundresses like that for little girls. I had so many dresses with smocking! Love it!

I'm an idiot and don't know what smocking is. Is it the embroidery? If it is you did an amazing job! I thought it was a Finish outfit at first but quickly realized I was wrong. Did you make the whole thing? That would be an even more amazing job! Either way Max is DARN cute in his outfit that you had some part in.

I was laughing on your previous blog because I thought I was the only kid who loved to play in the gutters! I guess people must be embarassed to admit it. Dan, Kate and I would bring buckets of sand from our sand box to build dams. Once, the dam almost went acoss the entire street. We would stop the cars in the street so they wouldn't ruin our dam. Thanks for bringing back the childhood memory.

Now that is talent! Seriously I wouldn't even attempt such a feat. Way to go - it looks great, especially on such a handsome little guy.

That's awesome! My sister is a smocking queen and has made some cute things for my little Abby. I wouldn't dare attempt it, though.
